Director Statement
I believe I am one of many who belong to more than one world.
Whether or not we figure it out, the joy is often in the journey to find the balance between where we fit in - or don’t.
I hope to make people laugh from these universal experiences; to show that however different we may seem culturally, we can come to a deeper understanding of one another and how we are fundamentally similar. I want to celebrate the women who follow less traditional paths rather than mourn them. I want to celebrate choice.
A special sense of humor is born from generations of resiliance and survival
A special sense of humor is born from generations of resilience and survival.
With this film, I want to embody that enduring humor and tone. Very often, films from or about the Middle East depict mostly dire and heart-breaking realities – I want to show another just-as-present but not-often-seen reality. With a light and hopeful tone, this film highlights serious issues that unwed women face within their cultures and communities no matter where they are.

Logline
Nisreen Mansour's life is all going to plan; she is about to complete her doctorate in astrophysics, her work on exoplanets is furthering scientific discovery and her dreamy, doctor-boyfriend is about to propose.
But, when his Palestinian mother deems her too old and too American for marriage, Nisreen is suddenly in danger of becoming, "khsara."
